What are the differences between the PEFC and FSC labels?

The FSC certification for Forest Stewardship Council, is an international non-profit NGO created in 1993. This eco-label guarantees wood or paper from sustainably managed forests in all countries of the world. It is the only label supported by the WWF. In addition to these environmental commitments, the FSC label also promotes fair working conditions and participates in the economic development of local communities.
The PEFC label, for Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, also concerns the sustainable management of forest operations. This label was created in 1999 to meet the expectations of European professionals who considered the FSC label unsuitable for smaller European forests.
